Amazon, in particular, can be brutal if you don&#8217;t meet listing standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re already selling on Amazon and try to connect existing listings, <strong>use SKU matching<\/strong> carefully. Otherwise, you\u2019ll end up creating duplicates or overwriting data unintentionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pros: What Marketplace Connect Does Well<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ll start with the good \u2014 and there\u2019s plenty of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>True Native Integration<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Shopify owns the app now, it behaves more like a core feature. That means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Seamless updates from Shopify\u2019s backend<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No weird plugin conflicts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More responsive support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That alone makes it a better long-term option than tools like CedCommerce or Sellbrite, in my opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <strong>Centralized Order Fulfilment<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You no longer need to jump between platforms. Orders from Amazon, Etsy, or eBay land inside your Shopify dashboard. You fulfill them like any other order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saves time, reduces human error, and helps your team stay in one platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <strong>Inventory Syncing That Works<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Inventory updates in real time. This is huge. You won\u2019t accidentally oversell on Amazon because you made a sale on Shopify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the past, clients had to wait hours for syncs to happen. Now, updates are instant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. <strong>Bulk Listing Tools<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can push dozens or hundreds of products live with bulk tools \u2014 apply templates, categories, tags, and even set up marketplace-specific overrides without doing it one by one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a lifesaver if you\u2019ve got more than 100 SKUs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cons: Where Marketplace Connect Falls Short<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This app isn\u2019t perfect. There are a few consistent pain points I\u2019ve seen across installs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>The Interface Is Confusing<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Even after 10+ years on the platform, I still find the UI frustrating. It\u2019s not always clear what happens when you sync a product \u2014 especially when trying to update existing marketplace listings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a learning curve. Expect to spend 1\u20132 days getting used to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. <strong>Limited Template Customisation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Compared to something like Amazon\u2019s native listing tools or Sellbrite\u2019s rule-based mapping, Marketplace Connect gives you less control over advanced fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want deep category refinements or conditional logic, it\u2019s not there yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <strong>Pricing Plans Add Up<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You get 50 marketplace orders\/month for free. After that, the paid plans start around $34\/month and scale up based on order volume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For low-volume sellers, this feels fair. For high-volume, it can get expensive \u2014 especially when you\u2019re also paying Shopify Plus or other SaaS tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. <strong>Limited Automation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are no conditional rules based on tags, product types, or metafields yet. You can\u2019t do something like: \u201cOnly list products tagged \u2018Amazon\u2019 if they\u2019re in stock and priced over $20.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s a big limitation for teams used to advanced logic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Real Examples: What It Looks Like in Practice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let me share a few quick examples from projects I\u2019ve worked on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Case 1: 6-Figure Amazon Brand Using Shopify as HQ<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One of our clients sells auto accessories. You&#8217;ll still need to clean up data and optimize listings.
